Welcome Letter from Mrs. Ligtenberg!

Welcome to Our House!
Sturgis Elementary prides itself in building strong relationships to strengthen our school community.  Our focus is to Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible,  Be Kind.

Sturgis Elementary is home to the Lions, Jackrabbits, Monkeys, Lemurs, Elephants, Deer, Eagles, Panthers, Bears and Dogs!

The house system is a school within a school model in which students and staff are sorted into houses, meeting monthly, in order to build relationships and create a sense of community. “House Champions” are awarded monthly, based on student earned points, and given a popcorn party with the principals.

A Parents Right To Know

What do I know about my child's teacher? The federal education law put in place by the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that all parents in a Title I school be notified and given the opportunity to request information about the professional qualifications of classroom teachers and paraprofessionals instructing their child. You may also request information on the level of achievement and academic growth of the student, if applicable and available, on each of the State academic assessments. If you are interested in this information, you may send your request to the building principal who will provide a timely response.
